According to 2023 data presented on VASEK's website, the EnergyVaasa cluster has 180 companies and 13,000 employees. More than 80 per cent of the cluster's turnover comes from exports. In 2026 Wärtsilä announced two capacity expansions in Vaasa, with investments of €140 million and €90 million.

VASEK, the development company owned by the region's municipalities, offers entrepreneurs personal business services free of charge and shares information on available business premises and plots in the Vaasa region. According to VASEK, more than 1,200 entrepreneurs or prospective entrepreneurs use its services every year. Vaasa had 6,017 business establishments in 2024, compared with 5,378 in 2019.
According to the city, the airport is a 10-minute drive from the centre, where the railway station is also located. According to the city, the flight to Helsinki takes 50 minutes and to Stockholm one hour. Wasaline's M/S Aurora Botnia sails daily between Vaasa and Umeå carrying passengers and freight, with a journey time of 4 hours.
Vaasa had 71,209 residents at the end of 2025. The population grew by 2.0 per cent in 2024 and 1.2 per cent in 2025. The city combines an energy technology hub, higher education, bilingualism and rail, air and sea connections.
